Windows 10: We're being forced to use Generic Non PNP Monitor Drivers

So about two months ago my sound bar stops working on my Dell 1905FP monitor. I also noticed my monitor starting to flicker here and there at times. It's an older model but has some awesome features.. Anyways , thinking that the sound bar finally gave up after x amount of years , I save up and buy a new sound bar which to my amazement dozent work. Finding this odd and knowing how Windows updates work at times I decided to check the device manager. Upon opening it up and clicking the monitor icon , I feel a surge of anger because where once was proudly proclaimed Dell Ultrasharp 1095FP LCD now was Generic Non PNP Monitor. Ok. So I try to update drivers , automatically , picking myself From a list , from a file, booting into safe mode, every trick known to man to reinstall my driver to which I get the old Windows determined that the best drivers are installed and the Please choose drivers compatible with your hardware. Really? OMG. Well I found a monitor.inf and a display.inf that say to supress the use of any other drivers.not cool .

I double checked my 1905fp.inf and sure enough The was a new entry to not allow those drivers to be selected.

I would suggest you follow steps to update the monitor driver:

Press Windows + X keys

Choose Device manager

Click on Monitors

Right click on ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and click on update driver

Tap on Browse my computer for driver software

Tap on Let me pick from a list of available drivers

Choose ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and tap on Next

When you are done please restart the computer.

 

Generic non PnP monitor

Hello! The other day I accidentally pulled out my BenQ 2400WD monitor's power supply cable, then replugged it in. My computer now detects my monitor as "Generic Non PnP Monitor" instead of BenQ, please help!

 

What is generic pnp monitor driver?

I connect my laptop to Dell monitor, I use only 2 screen in setting but my FPS is decrease. When I disable generic pnp monitor driver, FPS is normal. Why? What is generic pnp monitor driver?
