Except I'm not 90% of users, so not a good investment, if 90% of users spend $500 on a CPU and $300 odd dollars on a video card then I'm 90% of users, if 90% of users have got around 8 computers and tablets running Windows 10 okay I'm in the 90%, but I don't think I'm in the 90%.
All I want is a fair deal considering the amount of money I've spent on Windows and Windows 10, but I'm not expecting that, I expect they'll tell me to buy another licence on top of the roughly ten I've already got.

Gosh darn it, I got 10 upgrades to Windows 10 FOR FREE. It just not fair that "they" are going to make me pay for #11!

Very clever but no cookie, a baker has to work for hours to make your loaf of bread, no one has to work to activate my copy of Windows 10.

I didn't ask them to make a new operating system, my computers were running perfectly well before Windows 10, they're the ones forcing people to upgrade. I would have been perfectly happy to keep on running Windows 8.1.
I have always paid for all my operating systems since DOS and Windows 3.1, I think MS has done pretty well out of me, I even bought 2 original Surfaces which everyone hated, I also bought a Surface 3 and a Surface Pro 4.
I have plenty of licenses, I can quite easily go back to Windows 7 or 8 and start all over, I don't have a key for Windows 10, that is all.

But they do have to work to develop Windows 10.

Well why give it away then, oh I know, to make everyone forget the disaster called Windows 8 and even 8.1, which I liked by the way. To be honest I've already given up on the idea of getting W10 activated, I remember the last time I talked to somebody in Mumbai for 1.5 hours who could barely speak English, it's actually easier just to go back and start all over again, it's only about 5000 updates and 30 or 40 restarts, on my new Core i7 CPU running at 4.2 ghz, it should only take a few hours.

No updates to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 are required to upgrade to Windows 10. The updates are only required to get the upgrade to appear in Windows Update. Upgrading to Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool or ISO downloaded from Microsoft Tech Bench does not require updates to Windows 7/8/8.1.

I must admit I hadn't thought about the media creation tool, I'll just install Windows 8.1, I've already got the creation tool and Windows 10 on DVD, I'd already started working out what I was going to do, but this will make it a walk in the park. Once I do that I can copy the steam folder over to the new setup and go online and get that all reconnected.

Thanks for that, I wasn't looking forward to the updates.

Okay I'm nearly finished setting up, but I've learnt one distasteful thing today, Windows 10 is not as free as we think. After putting a new motherboard in my machine Windows 10 became deactivated, in other words it turned a previous retail version of Windows 8.1 into an OEM version.
How do I know this, the spare hdd I had, had a full version of Windows 8.1 Pro on it which I had forgotten about. I put into the machine, it updated the new motherboard and CPU then went online and reactivated itself. Because Windows 10 didn't do this it means it turned the retail version of Windows 8.1 into an OEM version.
Maybe everyone already knows about this, but I certainly didn't.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, if I am can someone fill in the details,

It's free to update underlying Windows you upgraded to, not a free for all OS. So, it's a free UPDATE !!!
You can use only previous windows you upgraded from OR W10.

An update is an update to an already existing OS, an update is NOT a whole new OS. I've never heard that Windows 10 is just an update.

W10 is a free upgrade only. Not a free OS. If you don't have W7 or 8 to upgrade from than you have to buy W10.
