    What can be done to correct receiving task host is stopping background tasks?


    Hello,


    I received this message a month ago and have tried many things to correct the problem. I must have done something wrong because now the Windows Update screen is blank. I can't get to Update History or anything else.


    I'm currently running Windows 10 Pro Version 1809. Would manually downloading and updating to Windows 10 May 2019 version correct my problem or possibly make things worse?

    Task Host is stopping background tasks.

    Task Host is stopping background tasks. It will not let Win 10 do normal updates.

    Anybody have any answers?

    Recently, using Windows 10, when I power off I get the Task Host Window.

    Message: Task Host is stopping background task (\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceDirectoryClient\RegisterUserDevice)

    I have to click Shut Down Anyway.

    Don't know if this is a "feature" of the last update, but have seen the shutdown bug posted for older O/S..

    What is the fix?
