Windows 10: What does "Not Sandboxed" mean???

I moved my favorites, contacts, etc. but have not notified anyone of my Chrome email...I want to change it to match my current email or changed all the above.

 

Question: Since you're using Avast, when you set it up, did you setup a sandbox? I don't know anything about what I'm asking, but others reading will. One opinion has it that Avast free version has sandboxing and you have it set up. I'm guessing you won't know how to deactivate it if you do.

Windows Defender is a very good AV and comes installed with Windows 10. What we would like you to do is to close down Avast for a couple days and see if the sandbox issue continues. Once Avast is closed, if Defender doesn't re-set itself, you should re-set it as your AV.

Both Computiac and I use only Windows Defender as our AV.

Be sure Defender is turned on after Avast is deleted.

You can check it by going to Control Panel > Security > it will look like this if its on.

I'm not sure about your popup, but it could be that the AOL browser has something to do with it (not sure). I thought you had deleted that, and decided on using Chrome browser instead?

SuperAntiSpyware probably found hundreds of cookies - small text files that sites place on your computer to keep track of you when you visit - they are nothing to worry about, and won't cause your problem.

You can, of course, uninstall Avast Antivirus and use Defender, but be advised that Defender is just not as good with detection, so you need to be "smart" when surfing the web. It would be interesting to see if your problem goes away by doing that, but I suspect it is your AOL browser that is the culprit.

Keep in mind, that you can surf the web with AOL browser, or you can surf the web with many other browsers, including Chrome. AOL browser is not recommended.

Your AOL email address can be accessed by using any other browser, including Chrome. You simply do not need the AOL browser, and it causes problems, so you best get rid of it once and for all. If I remember correctly, F14tomcat and I walked you through moving all your favorites and your emails and contacts to Chrome. There should be no reason to use the AOL browser anymore, being it is so problematic.

You should have a list of all your login sites, and make a plan to start changing maybe 5 or 6 a day, from your old AOL email to your new email address. It will be less painful than trying to do all of them at once. I did this a few years ago when I changed from yahoo to gmail. I still have the yahoo email; I check it every once and a while, and found a couple times, that I still needed it to access old forums which I visit infrequently.

Just FYI: When I install Avast Free on a system, I choose Custom Install, and only install the following items:





It's quite possible that some of the other options (which I normally do not install) are conflicting with the AOL browser, and giving you this problem popup.

You can use the Free version of Revo Uninstaller to remove AOL from your computer. Can also use it to uninstall other programs too.
Aol SHOULD NOT be on your computer ANYWHERE!!!!! Their are a lot of different methods to remove AOL from your computer.

Eileen, some info on AOL. Please read carefully and use the information to help you decide whether or not to completely and forever sever all ties with AOL. First, AOL no longer exists. It was bought by Verizon and changed to Oath. Verizon is also now in the process of discontinuing their email service and transferring accounts to the "new" proprietary Oath. They will still refer to it as AOL because that is a familiar marketing name. It is an Internet Explorer based browser. NOT Internet Explorer from MS, one that is based on the MS version, now superseded by Edge.

I personally do not care which browser you use, but remaining with AOL, as it currently stands, is not your best choice.

How do I shut Avast off? Would it be better to delete it and reinstall using simricks checklist for setting it up???
