Windows 10: What does "Your Location is currently in use" mean?

I was online and saw a little white circle on my taskbar. I hovered over it, and it said "Your location is currently in use". I've never seen this notification pop up before, so I got worried. Is it someone trying to locate me or is it the weather status that is located on my taskbar? I clicked on it, and it sent me to the location menu.Underneath "choose which apps can access your precise location", 3D viewer and Skype were marked as "on". I have never used either of these apps, so I don't know why both of them were automatically on for me. When I turned location for this device off, everythi

I booted Windows 10, version 1803 just now and found this message at the top of my display in a round window.

It means the location tracker built into WIndows 10 is being used to determine your location for an app that is approved in Settings to do this, often just briefly to find nearby businesses in a browser search, for example.

But some apps that you're allowing to start with Windows unnecessarily can be querying this. You can turn off startup freeloaders in all locations from Step 4 here:

Location service is greyed out

Sorry for the inconvenience caused for you, I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check If it helps.

Step 1: Steps to turn on the Location settings.

• Login as an administrator.
• Press Windows key, type Location settings and select
  Change location settings.
• Check whether Location for this device is On by clicking on
  Change.
• Also turn on Location as well.

Step 2: And as you are unable to set the service Geolocation service to automatic, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
