Brand new Windows 10 HP i5 laptop computer purchased a week ago.

I had a Windows 10 laptop that I had borrowed for business. The attraction was it allowed me to load older, very stable serialed programs from disc like CorelDraw 12 and Photoshop 7--this completely influenced my purchase travel purposes.

First of all, I found OneDrive to be the most obnoxious cloud poopoo ever; totally unnecessary for anyone who has Google.

That brings us to Microsoft Edge; again useless for a longtime Google user.

This cleaned up the system and made it look and act a little more like a decent machine, until I tried to install the CorelDraw vector graphics program. Once installed, clicking on various tools only served to crash the program. Over and over....this is the same software that worked just fine on the borrowed laptop mentioned above.

After several maybe up to ten complete resets that wouldn't allow me to feel secure in my factory rest ie: remnants with my name or email still visible.

And maybe it's just the antiquated hipster in me that thinks it shows extremely bad form for Microsoft to hawk its Office 365, et al, for additional cash.

I'm thinking this nightmare needs to get shipped back home until the geniuses in the lab coats can get their act together and deliver a system that doesn't try to make a hostage out of me.

    Sign me -- Bummed.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
