Windows 10: What is the difference between vc_redist.x64.exe and vcredist_x64.exe?

I was just looking for the redistributable installer in my VS2019 folders and was surprised to find what appears to be two copies of each version, but with different names. I assume that one of the two is preferred and that there is some purpose to this, but on line searches are producing far, far too many hits on either name.


So, I am hoping someone can let me know which one I should use and why the other one exists at all. Thanks!

I am running windows 10 and I am trying to load the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 and 2013 Redistributable Packages.

These errors occur:

Still getting the 'MSVCP120.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.' error even after running vcredist_x64.exe

• Not that I remember of
• When launching my antivirus app, launching Adobe programs, etc.
• I just ran vcredist_x64.exe, that's it really.

 

Getting the "winhlp32.exe" for Windows XP (x64)

Comparison between the "winhlp32.exe" for Windows 8.1 Eng x64 (*1) and the "winhlp32.exe" for Windows XP Eng x64 (*2):
(*1) = The "winhlp32.exe" for Windows 8.1 Eng x64, which can properly open an old help file (*.hlp) on Windows 8.1 Eng x64. Inother words, this "winhlp32.exe" is as same as that provided by "Windows8.1-KB917607-x64.msu."
(*2) = The "winhlp32.exe" for Windows XP(SP2) Eng x64, which can open an old help file (*.hlp) on Windows XP(SP2) Eng x64. This "winhlp32.exe" is used as the "winhlp32.exe" which is replaced with the original "winhlp32.exe" in Windows 10 Eng x64.
Please refer to the following picture.
Note:
These two "winhlp32.exe" files have completely different file-structure, when comparing them by using a certain binary editor. Therefore, showing the difference between two files (as a binary list) is meaningless.
