  1. What is the File Size for the nov. 13th (build 10586) update?

7 x64 licence upgraded the i7 workstation configuration to 10586.3 here yesterday with a clean install upgrade now option from the MCT . It went smooth download took maybe 40 min. for ~ 3.6 GB I figure . No issues with the production software ,editors VST plugins and outboard HDWE getting re authorized and up and running . Windows 10 brought a nice ~8-15 ms latency improvement on the production side and DX 12 and better frame rates for the 1080p ultra dGPU gaming .

  2. I have downloaded on my Desktop PC Windows 10 Pro 1511 build 10586 update yesterday and it took me me more than 12 hours on my slow connection (ISP) of 192 kbps. This update installs like a fresh Setup file as if you are installing a fresh copy of OS.

  3. It is a new OS build like an older service pack in a way and not an update and if you clean install ( instead of in place update /upgrade ) it's a fresh new OS ,either way it's a new Windows 10 operating system version aka Windows 10 1511 - 10586.3 th2 that replaced Windows 10 10520 th1 (or whatever you had ) altogether ☻

  5. Sure it could be depending on what version ,file and or language packs you downloaded and the % compression used the size can vary .
I've seen it all the way from ~2.93 GB up to 3.1 -3.6 GB in my c:\ $WINDOWS ~BT folders so far. ☻☻

  7. An MSDN .ISO or MCT ? .... I got my last few licenced upgrade downloads from the MCT outside of the Insider Windows update downloads .

  9. Maybe there is some variation in the compression % rates from one server to another or maybe they add running update code ?

Not to my knowledge. The ISO from MS should be the same regardless of the server. Check it out if you like. Get the media creation tool and download 64bity pro to compare.

Also you can get it from MS TechBench:

  11. Admittedly retirement can be boring now and then, OTOH I really don't care how big Windows 10 downloads are as long as my downloads behave *Wink

  13. What is the File Size for the nov. 13th (build 10586) update?

FWIW I've seen different file size at multiple language /region MSDN download links on one of the web pages and the downloads outside of the MCT with multiple language packs are /were sometimes bigger than ones without those .

One time I picked out an 3.10GB download over a smaller one maybe 2 . something or 2.85 GB IIRC on an Insider build ISO like that.

I just downloaded 64 bit pro MCT upgrade yesterday and did a Win 7 x64 licenced upgrade/clean install option yesterday on the work station but now that it has been done .... I cant look at the $WINDOWS ~BT Folder and get the MCT download size you have to do that before you launch the set up files on a download option or maybe before the update download starts . OTOH I may download an ISO from the MCT just to have at some point I'll see how big it is then .

  14. Just ran diskclean in my licnced 10265.3 pro volume on this PC that was upgraded via MCT ( upgrade now ) recently .

FWIW there was nothing much in the $WINDOWS~ BT file maybe 1.5 GB and 3.06 GB in an ESD file and whatever the Windows delivery optomization files were outside of that and ofc. much more than that in the Windows OLD file maybe ~ 25 GB .

Correct. MCT is more compressed than Tech Bench (about 600MB smaller for x64 en-US).

The contents are the same, both will install Windows but the MCT version doesn't work for some other more obscure uses.

You can't use the .wim from MCT in Windows System Image Manager if you are sysprepping for example and dism with /source option also requires the Tech bench version.
