Windows Holographic VR headsets minimum required Windows 10 PC specs

Today, Microsoft announced full details of the full minimum requirements for PCs to power these experiences:

CPU: Intel Core i5 mobile (6th-generation 'Skylake' or 7th-generation 'Kaby Lake') dual-core CPU with hyperthreading or equivalent

GPU: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 (GT2) equivalent or greater GPU, DirectX 12-capable

RAM: 8GB dual channel required for integrated graphics

HDMI: HDMI 1.4 with 2880x1440px @ 60Hz; or HDMI 2.0; or DisplayPort 1.3 with 2880x1440px @ 90Hz

HDD: 100GB SSD (preferred) / HDD

USB: USB 3.0 Type-A or USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort Alternate Mode

Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 for accessories

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

Open a new Explorer window.

Click View in the ribbon.

Click Options.

Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”

Click OK

Minimum hardware requirements for Windows 10 for phones and desktops

At the WinHEC conference in Shenzhen, China, Microsoft has revealed the minimum hardware requirements needed to successfully boot, run, update and service Windows 10. The hardware maker has shared details for desktops as well as Windows 10 for phones....

...New hardware from Intel include the 14nm Cherry Trail-based Atom processors, as well as the upcoming Skylake architecture for desktops. The entry-level Atom x3 — which was announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month — will also be compatible with Windows 10. AMD's processor additions are in the form of the Carrizo and Carrizo-L, which are aimed at desktops and notebooks respectively.

For desktop, 16GB internal memory and 1GB RAM are the minimum hardware requirements needed to run the 32-bit edition of Windows 10, while the 64-bit variant requires 20GB storage and 2GB RAM. In adition to listing the hardware requirements, Microsoft has also announced a Windows 10 compatibility program for OEMs and partners.
