Windows 10: What is the most reliable and thorough Disk clean-up program

I have been running Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 8.1) for over a year on my 2-year-old Asus laptop with 500 GB hard drive and 8 GB of memory. Nevertheless it has lost its shine and speed. Windows bootup time, powering down, opening and using programs have gotten slower, which I've come to expect in time with usage. I'm not a very technical person and I have left all the Windows 10 settings alone as I'm afraid of messing something up. Oh, I did change my desktop background image, but that's about it. I run the free version of Avast antivirus and I'm mindful about security risks. My laptop runs okay, however I would love for it to chug along a bit faster.
There are lots of programs for "cleaning up" a hard disc to restore computer performance. What do forum members think is the most reliable and thorough one on the market, and which ones should be avoided at all cost?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
