Windows 10: What is the secret to importing videos into the Windows 10 Photos app?

I have MP4 videos that I created using the camera on my cellphone stored in my videos folder on drive C. When I pressed the Import icon on the Microsoft Photos app and selected the folder where my videos are stored, it did not allow me to import any files. I am stumped? What does Import mean? I Googled YouTube training videos for Microsoft Photos and found 3 videos. None directly answered my question. So I have come here. What should a newb do to learn how to import videos into Microsoft Photos app?

1) How are you exactly trying to import the photos in Windows 10?

2) Where exactly you refer to, when you say " box that displays them has no "import" button"? Is it in Photos app/any other source?

Follow the below steps to import the photos from your phone through Photos app and check if it helps.

• Open the Start menu, type Photos in search bar results and click on Photos app from the search bar results.
  
• Click on the (...) Symbol at the top right corner of the Photos app.
• The icon next to (...) Symbol is the Import icon, Click on it.
• Follow on screen instructions to import the photos from the connected device to your computer (Android/Windows/other device)

Cannot Import photos to Windows 10

I suggest you to import the photos using Photo gallery app.

Please be informed that you will be able to see the Photo gallery in the apps list only if you have installed Windows essentials.

Note: If you have installed Windows Essentials, skip the step 1 and proceed to step 2.
