  3. Windows 10 Optimization Tool on a SSD

    Hi Kevin,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

    • Are you referring to “optimize drives”?
One of the best ways you can improve your PC's performance is by optimizing the drive. By default, Optimize Drives, previously called Disk Defragmenter, runs automatically on a weekly schedule at the time set in automatic maintenance. But you can also optimize
    drives on your PC manually.

You may refer to the below article and check if it helps.

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

What Maintenance/Optimizer Tools Do You Use?

After KB3163018 & 3149135 Automatic Maintenance Defragments SSD instead of Optimizing

I have both KB3149135 and KB3163018 (both installed on the 15th) , and there is no problem with

Windows defrag tool wanting to defrag, vs running TRIM when clicking on 'Optimise' (which I very rarely use).

    - It probably does not make a difference, but I don't use Automatic Maintenance, or defrag.

This was running the Defragment and Optimize Drives tool manually.

(I stopped Auto-Maintenance via Control Panel > Security and Maintenance. I also shut down before the 2:00AM time and shut my modem off as an extra precaution. Don't much like automatic. ).
