Windows 10: What to do about screen freezes?

I have had this Acer Swift 5 for all of two weeks. On three occasions I've had the screen "freeze." No mouse or keyboard--with one very odd exception. The Acer has reassigned the F1 function key to Sleep Mode. When I touch that key the screen immediately goes dark. I can then bring it back by touching the space bar--and without having to sign in again! This seems to suggest that it was not really in sleep mode.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I hate the thought of taking the pc back to the Microsoft Store for an exchange. I would have to reinstall Word and my Kindle Reader. Not to speak of the hours spent "fine tuning" everything and copying all of my files from the Windows 7 desktop I am replacing.
I'd really appreciate some expert advice. Should I just ignore the issue in hopes that it will self-correct? What about keeping the Acer but running Windows Reset? I know I'd have to do all of the set up procedures again. And if the problem is hardware, then resetting Windows would seem futile.
What would you do?

Andre, thanks for your suggestions. I performed all steps as you listed and it appears that there were

some problems that have been corrected. I will let you know in a day or so if the "freeze" problem

occurs again. Many thanks for your help --- this took longer than I expected!

Screen freeze

'screen freeze' is a very vague term.

Can you describe the issue with more detail?

ex: the image on screen freezes, but i can hit the power button and windows shuts down normally, and i can hear sounds in the background.
