Windows 10: What to do after interrupting a stuck system restore

Hello,

I had a common crackling speakers issue with my brand new XPS13 2in1 2020. I temporarily fixed the issue by disabling sound enhancement in the sound options, but this solution reduced sound quality. I was hoping for a better method.

Yesterday, when I installed the recommend Windows update which included Realtek drivers update, the issue disappeared after reboot. However, about an hour later when I unplugged my earpieces, it occurred again.

Therefore I decided to perform a system restore and try reinstalling this Realtek drivers update afterwards. Nevertheless, my system restore got stuck 10hours restoring the registry could it be due to Norton ?

I ended up with no other choice but to force the PC to shutdown. I haven't tried to boot it since, because I know Windows could very well be damaged and there are different ways to repair it.

What do you suggest I do to see if Windows is corrupted and how to come back to a clean state ?

• What was the exact issue that you were facing that lead to perform restore?
• Did you receive any error message, when the system restore got stuck?
• Did you install any third party security application?

Since the computer is being stuck, I suggest you to restart the computer and try to perform the restore again and check if it helps.

I also suggest you to provide more information regarding the issue which led to perform system restore along with the make and model of the computer.

To address your concern, we suggest that you try to undo the restore or pick another restore point.

Please follow these steps to access system restore:

• Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select Control Panel.
  
• Search Control Panel for Recovery.
  
• Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
