Windows 10: What You’ll Lose When You Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10

I've just joined Win10 forum and cannot leave a PM for the Win7 classic games. How do I get the link?

Candy crush built in to Windows 10? I predict this making many people irrationally furious.

 

Not furious, but it will be the first thing I uninstall

 

I already found a new "toy" I like on build 10130... 3D Builder!!! I am totally un-artistic but... It's fun.

 

I'd like the Windows XP games to work on Windows 10. Except for Mahjong Titans, I didn't find anything in Win 7 games that I liked. Microsoft seems to have made a habit of changing the games -- apparently gratuitously -- to keep stressing the video system. IMHO, the games in Windows XP were -- by and large -- faster, had better eye-appeal, and just worked better than anything that followed. You can go all the way back to Windows 95 and see the changes, most frequently the playing card designs. Honestly, the eye-clutter of the evolving playing card designs was as pathetic as was the same thing in IBM's OS/2 Warp. Just saying.

 

One thing you DON'T lose is GODMODE. See:

One thing I'll miss with the upgrade is Bing Desktop. I've had this since it's inception on Win7. I don't need most of it's functions because they're already integrated with apps on Win8 and 10, but I like the four wallpapers(Bing picture of the day, Animal, Scenery, Other) that can automatically set & changed. I have tried installing it on 10 but they haven't made it compatible(yet???). Anyone else use it too?

 

Won't miss WMC nor Gadgets and already got W7 Games migrated from my W7 installation.

Couldn't live without Free Cell! My record so far is 179 straight allowing only one take back at any given time. Shows how busy I ain't!

Why do you need the Windows 7 Freecell? W10 comes with The Games collection that includes Freecell.

 

I don't know about others, albeit for some reason (beyond my grasp) I just like the look and feel of Win 7 card games. . .*Smile

 

I must admit I hadn't really looked closely at the games app in W10.

But have to agree with Lee that I also like the W7 games format and operation. *Biggrin

And truth is don't use apps much. Although different story on my iPhone.

 

I won't miss Windows Media Center as I've never used it, hehe...
