Windows 10: What's the ALPS Electric HIDClass 04/06/2017 1.0.0.13 optional driver?

Can someone please explain to me what this driver does and if i need it or not? Thanks

Optinal Update (Alps Electric, HIDClass, v1.0.0.13) not installing.

We have several Windows 10 Pro machines that offer to install the optional update Alps Electric - HIDClass - 4/6/2017 12:00:00 AM - 1.0.0.13, but dispite repeated attempts to download and install the update it never appears to complete and does not report
any reason for the failure on screen. Has anyone else experienced this and discovered why it does not install?

W10 Pro update from 06/13/2017

This last Tuesday(06/13/2017), a somewhat large update for my W10 Pro system was posted.

Of course, as usual, I applied this update soon after I saw it available.

Now, in the performance of some of my weekend administrative duties(just cleanup, optimize, full image backup, etc.), it appears

that these two issues have appeared:

1. Apparently, new directories(those created after the 06/13 service, seem to be unable to retain their view characteristic. IOW,

I create a new directory, set its view to detail, and the work with the directory. Later, I return to the directory, but the view is no

longer detail, and has switched to a default of medium icons(I believe). Every time I choose to access this directory, I must set

the view characteristic repeatedly to detail.

2. Printing a document from a web access, fails to print the entire document. Actually, from my testing, only the first line of the

document is printed. Explanation - I use this print facility repeatedly to save copies of information during a weekend administration

process. Actually, the print which I'm referring, is really print to pdf. I began to notice my printed information was only showing the

first line. I experimented further, and error repeat is constant. So then I just began testing the print preview, to avoid all the extra

specifications needed for print to pdf. Print preview fails as well. I can say that I was able to print to pdf correctly 1 item. But,

none of the other remaining items will complete correctly. Note that this print to pdf requirement is normally done using IE, because

my normal Firefox has never been able to successfully perform the print to pdf correctly.
