    WHEA error win10 64bit 4790k asrock

    Hello 10Forums,
I am trying to solve an issue with this WHEA error.... many threads have gone unanswered or left cold and I still don't know what to do.. it is getting very frustrating and it seems to BSOD much more often in Win10 then win7 ever did.

I keep getting a whea_uncorrectable_error when gaming on my pc....

It happens at random but usually when I've been gaming for half an hour etc...

My temps are around 65-70 degrees on the cpu and around 71 degrees on the gpu...
my cpu is runing @ 4.4ghz stock and around 1.289v...

I read that this error may be related to the cpu and lack of vcore so I added additional vcore offset up by +0.025mv however I'm still getting this error....

currently all components are running at stock speeds

    my specs are

    i7 4790k
    GTX980Ti
    8GB Fury Hyperx kingston 1866mhz
    killer asrock z97x
    sound blaster xfi
    750w ocz fatality psu
    win10 64bit
    Latest bios updates

my case has good air flow and my cpu cooler is a noctua nhd15

Any help would be appreciated as its getting very frustrating...
I have also ran a memtest86 overnight with no errors

what else can I do or how do I find out exactly the cause of the error?

edit: here is a report from bluescreenview - http://postimg.org/image/aeejtahnz/

I have also read that disabling C STATES in the bois may help so I have disabled these for the meantime - this has not helped.

  2. WHEA EVENT 17 continues....

    Hi again!

I found an INF driver to the Z370 chipset (INF(v10.1.1.45_Public)) at ASROCKS site (even newer than the one at ASUS site!).

After installing it the WHEA errors still occurs, but at a MUCH lower frequency!

So guess i have to be patient an wait for further INF/BIOS updates!

    END OF STORY!

Unable to get Retail version of Win10 Pro working on New PC build

    Andre,

I think you are referring to your post on groovypost.com. I am running barebones setup (Motherboard, CPU, 8GB 1stick RAM, Samsung EVO 850 120GB SSD with EVGA 650 GS PSU).

I tried swapping the RAM stick with 3 other brand new 8GB sticks. Also tried swapping the Samsung SSD with brand new 1TB WD Black HDD.

And got a replacement motherboard from ASRock thinking it's a bad motherboard. Still, I can't get the Win10 Pro to work.

The only thing left now for me to try is -

    a) Replace the Intel i7-4790K CPU

    b) Get a new copy Win10

I have come to believe that it is Win10 issue not a hardware issue.

Remember, I am doing a clean install with "Custom Install" option with a clean slate (no partitions) SSD, Fast boot option turned OFF in UEFI.

Also note yesterday I ran a full day of gaming and dropped my CPU to 4.2Ghz @ 1.202v and after 5 hours of gaming not 1 BSOD.

This morning I reset my cpu back to stock 4.4Ghz which is around the 1.261v-1.289v and after 10min of gaming it BSOD....
I have re-set the cpu back to 4.2Ghz @ 1.202v and no BSODs so far today...

I think it has something to do with my cpu??? very annoying that I can't run my CPU even @ stock.... still need to figure out exactly what is causing the issue..... Im thinking lack of voltage but surley not 1.28v is WAY over the normal stock volts on a 4790k

Please check {windows partition}\windows\minidump and check if there are any dump files saved.
The zip is empty of dump files.

All those settings looks fine... I think cCleaner may have wiped the minidumps??? I'll have to get another BSOD and test

If that is indeed the case

I have a question for you, please answer 100% honestly.

Do you have a license from the internet, without purchasing? Like using a crack or another method to have the software without paying for it.
Please answer it honestly, if you are not answering it honestly it will only be difficult to have a stable windows.

Reason why I ask it, I have some suspicious about the license.

    Thank you *Smile

FYI, about the error 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (Windows Hardware Error Architecture)
This means that there are problems with your hardware, but this error is mostly caused by overclocking or faulty drivers.
If you are overclocking anything, revert back to stock while troubleshooting and test the system.

Below is my analyse provided from the dump file for you.

It seems there is an internal error reported by the CPU.

Please check the temperatures of your CPU when idle and under load.
Max temperature should be around 80C - 85C, more means that the cooler is bad. Then you either need to replace the cooler or replace the thermal paste or clean the heatsink.

Please perform the CPU stress test if the temperatures are fine and you're not overclocking.

Idle temperature for CPU is 36degrees
Under load with Prime95 it hits 91 degrees during maximum heat stress... However it only hits a max of 67-72 degrees with Intel XTU utility... p95 tends to torture this cpu.

my cpu cooler is a Noctua NH-D15 seen here Noctua NH-D15 Review | techPowerUp
It is arguably the best air cooler money can buy.

I have cleaned the cpu and cooler and re-applied Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste...
Also how do I check the drivers for my cpu?

  15. "Running at stock speeds" doesn't tell us a whole lot. What are the tweaks you've made to your BIOS? Does the error occur while running "optimized defaults"? Have you tried entering you memory timings manually?
