Windows 10: When doing a upgrade of 1803 to 1809 and it fails, rather do a clean install of Windows 10 1809

Hi all,


After struggling to upgrade Windows 10 1803 to 1809 from the beginning of October, and talking to the Microsoft support staff via online chat, I knew in my heart of hearts that a clean install of 1809 was my only answer. But of coarse i was delaying this as i would have to reinstall all my apps and reconfigure them.But i took the plunge earlier today and it was a success.If you get an error while trying to upgrade from 1803 to 1809 and it says it could not update some system files, it wasnt because of old hardware drivers as i have the latest in everything. The only solution is a clean install.I hope anyone out there that is as frustrated as i was reads my message and just does a clean install.Im afraid its the only answer

Updated (and Failed) 1803, not updated to 1809

1809 was released yesterday, but will not be available to everyone for at least a few days. My concern is not with 1809 so much as it is with the unusual updates to 1803 that appeared yesterday and, if I read the information about them, have to be installed before 1809 can be installed. Given that the one of those 1803 updates failed on my computer, and I see nothing to indicate that the other was even offered, I wonder if 1809 will be offered.

 

Windows 10 - 1803 to 1809

Hi,

Last week I downloaded 64 bit ISO from Microsoft site, I got 1803 version image only,

I heard Microsoft released windows 10 - 1809, if yes then where to download 1809 ISO

and I installed 1803 image which I downloaded and also activated product online ,

now question is

Will I get 1809 update automatically ? if yes then how ?

or do I need to get 1809 image and install my OS again? if yes, where can I download windows 10?

WMP for version 1809...


My Windows 10 N, version 1803 had used Windows Media Player via installing it from the "Windows_MediaFeaturePack_x64_1803.msu" file.

Updating to 1809 removed the WMP and no longer available in the apps list:





There's an updated version listed at:

But clicking on the link and looking for the 1809 in the drop down list of versions does not show the media feature pack available for download for 1809; instead it shows version 1709 and 1803.

Does anyone have a direct link to WMP for Windows 10 N, version 1809?
