when I surf the net I find websites that have text that are hyperlinks

I have a habit of reading things on the internet ( web site pages ) with my mouse. The problem I have is on almost every website there are green words in the text of the pages that are hyperlinks, I run over them with my mouse as I read and a ad or tip etc pops up. It makes it tough to get through a website for me. If I could stop using my mouse that would help a lot but since I can't it's a habit I need to learn how to disable all those green words that are hyperlinks. I have to make sure I am not disabling actual links that I would want to click to go somewhere else. It is just the green words that are links.

( Sorry I do not know the name of this type of link so I call it " the green words" )

    :)

  2. I find that I have grown "addicted" to the game of Spider. I'd like to remove it from my reach on my Surface.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Happy to hear that you are enthusiastically devoted to a particular activity/Game.

There is only one way to get out of it and you need to follow the below steps for that.

I would suggest you to add new local account and login to that so that the apps will not be there to access.

Click on the below link to check how to create local account in Windows 10.

Refer to the Wiki article by Andre Da Costa
    below.

Refer: How to create a local account

Keep us informed if the issue is resolved. We are glad to help you further.

Original title: Saving me from myself!

I find that I have grown "addicted" to the game of Spider. I'd like to remove it from my reach on my Surface. I know I can uninstall it but it's too easy to re-install... so it's not really out of reach.

In prior versions of Windows, I could uninstall it and reinstallation took a little more effort and time and it wasn't a temptation when I was on a different computer. Now that it's not resident on my computer, it's too easy to reinstall and it follows
me on all my devices. It's like asking someone to hide Oreos from you but they told you they're hidden in every room of your house!

Is there a way to lock myself out of the Spider app?

Windows 7??? What browser are you using? I see it on some pages/sites and ignore those words as I know they lead to advertising. Have you consider an ad-blocker add-on/plug-in for your browser/s?

Since I am posting in Tenforums I would assume everyone would know I am using Windows 10, as far as my browser I was Firefox. I have popups disabled in firefox.

Just going by what you listed in your System Specs. And No, making that assumption has led to erroneous information being posted.

The only one that is free is Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Malware Removal I'd rather not install a trial software. I hope the free one is good enough. when I open it is says " You are not fully protected" Turn on all Real-Time Protection layers to block threats.
I go to settings and turn on the only real-time protection that isn't already on but there is no save button so I close it and next time I open the program I get the same warning again and again

  14. I have been following this thread as I too see these links, and within the Tenforums.

I ran Norton, MBAM, AdwCleaner and Hitman Pro. While tracking cookies were found nothing else of note was found. Reset browser and restarted. Still see links.

Did more research and found that these are also call in-text advertising. Vibrant (vibrantmedia.com) is one supplier and they are based on keywords when you search. Went to their site and looked at one of their demo's. Low and behold Green links.

I agree with the members that you should run some of these other AV products to be sure. Some you can just run from the exe. AdwCleaner or HitMan Pro don't require formal installation.

If you download and try the Brave browser for your reading I think you may enjoy it. Alternately as one of the members has already posted look for an extension to block this behavior.

I have computers with both the Free Malwarebytes and the paid-for Malwarebytes, no interference with my antivirus programs. Now, those multi-function suites may have problems as they have more features but Malwarebytes doesn't look for the same things as an antivirus program does.
