Hi, desperate for support. My best guess is that the root cause of my issue is that there is a problem between windows and my Microsoft account. Summary of issue:* When trying to sign into my account, on the computer, I get an unresponsive black / blank window. It eventually disappears, no where to enter my account details. When I look via "Task manager" it indicates the process as being unresponsive. Settings > Your info > "sign in with a Microsoft account instead".* When looking at windows security in settings I cannot sign-in for account protection. Settings > Windows Secu

Sign in with a Microsoft account instead

I do in fact have an existing Microsoft account and if I go directly to Microsoft, everything works. The problem is clearly at Step 7 of the process of, "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead." I don't know why this is happening.

  3. sign into microsoft account glitch

    Hi Micheal,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    • Is this the only account on the computer?
    • Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

    • Click on search in taskbar and type account.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
    • Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
    • Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

When signing into my microsoft account from windows the process becomes "unresponsive" or...

Family Account Sign in is Unresponsive

I recently replaced my older desktop pc with a new model with Windows 11 Home installed. I went through the setup process and established my MS Account as an Administrator. A lot of my Microsoft information and settings were automatically synced. I went through and installed many of the programs and apps I previously used. I then added my wife's account who is already a family member.

Her account email address shows up in the list of logins to choose from. However, when we click on the "Sign in" for the account, nothing happens. We wait for a while and then the PC goes to sleep. We click to wake it up and click on the start page to bring up the sign-in screen. Windows is still unresponsive when clicking her sign-in.

I have removed her from the family, deleted the PC account, re-added her to the Family, and added her to the PC. Her sign in is still totally unresponsive
