Windows 10: When using dual monitors, opening programs on while the mouse is on either monitor always...

I have a monitor connected to my laptop through an HDMI port, and I noticed that no matter what monitor my mouse it currently on, programs keep getting opened up on my laptop's display.

I don't like having to manually move programs from the laptop to my other monitor. It also makes it difficult for games, since I am unable to move fullscreen games to the monitor without switching the game to windowed mode.

How do I make it where programs are opened on the currently focused display?

Dual monitor, Dual mouse??

Please share this information to assist you better.

• How have you setup dual monitors?
• Are you referring to use 2 different mouse/keyboard with the dual monitor setup?

If yes, the mouse or keyboard may function same as one another. Since, it has to be connected to single PC/tower.

However, setting up 2 different mouse/keyboard with the Dual- monitor setup, it may not function separately for each monitor.

Opening programs on second monitor, not main monitor

Hi,

Thank you for being a part of Windows 10.

I would suggest you to try the following steps.

1. Right click a free area of the desktop, select "properties"

2. Click the "settings" tab

3. Click the mouse on the seconary monitor grapic,

4. UNCHECK the box "extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"

5. Click the primary monitor graphic

6. Make sure that "use this device as primary monitor" is CHECKED

If you're not sure which is 1 and which is 2, tap the "identify" button. It should display a huge, gigantic "1" on the primary monitor.

Or if that does not work, right click the application on the Taskbar, click Move, then use the arrow keys to move the program. The mouse cursor locks to the program window and you can use the mouse to position the program
on your screen, you just have to use the arrow keys initially.

DUAL MONITORS

How do you get dual monitors to work independently?

On my second monitor, all that shows is the taskbar and icons.

If I click on an icon, the program opens and shows on the monitor - and I can work on the opened program - but this same program is duplicated on my first monitor, irrespective of what ever program was open!

Help please!!!
