    Hi,

    I am using Windows 10.

There is some small problem I use to access internet in my network via Wifi. I get 2 screens.

First a network wifi icon at bottom right hand corner. Which I click and I get some thing like this

where does wifi saves passwords for username password based internet wifi 74d15860-4cb3-4744-b4a0-c36afcf097cc?upload=true.jpg

Here I get a prompt on selecting the SSID which first asks a password which is common for all users.

I enter that then I get another link which is

    http://192.0.2.254/?redirect=https%3A//secure.iiitg.ac.in%3A8090

many a times when network is slow it first opens a page

www.msftconnecttest.com and then this page redirects to above link.

There I enter my username and password which is different from the password (which was common for all users)

I enter to connect to the SSID in above screenshot.

this pages login screen is like this.

Now if I reboot the computer many a times I have noticed I do not need to enter password in both the stages

    1) when wifi chipset on board wants to get an IP address (it needs to authenticate machine on wifi network) it is a common login and password for every one.

    2) when I need to access internet I need to enter my username password

I do not save my username and passwords any where other than a text file in notepad.

So I am wondering how is this possible that after reboot I am automatically logged in and if at that time I manually try to open

    http://192.0.2.254/?redirect=https%3A//secure.iiitg.ac.in%3A8090
and enter my username password I get the error as in above screenshot

"Login failed you have reached maximum login limit."

This makes my life difficult because I assume that by a reboot or shutdown I am automatically signed off from the network which is not the case.

    According to Sophos forums:
    https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/f/authentication/74694/i-need-a-logout-button-for-the-captive-portal-or-a-url-i-can-bookmark
    https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/f/authentication/90630/using-captive-portal-how-can-i-log-off
there isn't a user-accessible logout option; the network admins would have to build it on their own first.

So what I am wondering in both the above stages where is my login passwords for both the stages stored in Windows 10.

Since this is a windows specific forum so but just for information I want to tell that this same behaviour is set on my android phones also. So if I move from my hostel to academic block and in mean time I am disconnected from the network I do not get logged out. Instead if I go and power on my laptop android phone in other building I see error message like "Maximum login limit reached".

So I was wondering where are my both passwords (for both stages) saved in my devices (Windows 10 laptop and android device)

I do not want them to logout again and again when not required.

    :)

    Cannot Save WIFI Password

Try forgetting the WiFi network, then reconnect and reenter the password to see if that helps. To forget the network, click on Start, select Settings, select Network & Internet, click on "Manage WiFi settings", scroll down to "Manage known networks", click on your wireless network and click " Forget".
