Where does Windows Defender quaranteen files to?

Some time ago Windows Defender popped up a message that it needs to reboot my computer because it suspected that I had a virus in one of the files. This was in a VMware vm. I ignored it for a while. Now when I rebooted computer my VM doesn't boot. It gives me a message that some .vmdk file is missing.

How do I get that freaking Defender to return that file back? I'm sure that is what messed it up.

PS. Where does it store all the quaranteened files.

    :)

  2. Defender Quaranteen Folder

All you would know is where Defender put it. in the Quaranteen folder

Now does defender make a log of "Where" it found the offending item?

    Defender Quaranteen Folder

Hello! I am an Independent Advisor, I would love to help you out!

To get the file you will need to unquarantined it, you may also need to add it to the exclusion list so that Defender does not quarantine it before you are able to send it. I believe if you select "see details" before you unquarantined it, you should be able
    to see the file location.

You can see steps on that here:

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/manage-quarantin...

To submit a file to Microsoft you can use this site:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmis...

Once you have sent it I would highly recommend to remove it from your exclusions list if you had to do that.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised
on the site before you decide to download and install it.
