Windows 10: Where is MS Photo viewer exe located

We use an Electronic Document Management System EDMS for all of our Project Deliverables. This includes multiple different file formats, such as .pdf .dgn .docx .xlsx .jpg .png etc.


For all non image formats, we are able to set the default application within our EDMS in which these media formats are to be opened. For example, .pdf might be assigned to Adobe Acrobat, .dgn might be assigned to Bentley Microstation and .docx might be assigned to Microsoft Word. All of these applications listed can be located as a program on the users C drive, for example Microsoft Word can be located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. This C drive location is required by the EDMS in order to assign the application.


However, as far as I am aware, the Photos application is a system app, and does not run like the other listed applications in the way of an executable.


This is causing us massive issues, as we are now unable to assign a program to image files kept within our EDMS, and therefore unable to open them. This means that for images we have to keep them externally to our EDMS, which does not meet the level of controls we are expected to adhere to by our client.


Please can you advise how I am able to resolve this issue? Is there a way to locate the program file for the Photos App or is this not possible? Are Microsoft aware of this issue and actively able to look into resolving it especially considering as this affects multiple users?

Where is MS Photo viewer exe located

Sorry this is a bone head question but I am at wits end and googling the questions did not help.

I have a brand new windows 10 computer. One of my programs wants to to know how to handle/display jpg's. Everyone suggests to me that MS Photo Viewer program included free with windows 10 is the way to go. I am not even sure what I was using in Windows
7. So when my program asks how I want to handle JPG's I browse to:

c: programs\windows photo viewer\

In this directory and one sub directory the only one exe file that can be seen imagingdevices.exe. Click on that and it starts to add/configure your imaging scanner. When I scanned the computer for photo*.exe My computer found only one file and it was not
it. I opened a jpg file in explorer by double clicking on it and the photo opened and in the upper left corner of the pane it says "photo -<name of photo>" ut I could not find any "properties" option/pull down so I could trace this back to the programs source.
I have wasted 2 hours trying to do this simple task that I have done hundreds of times before. It should not be this difficult!

Back up plan abandon MS Window recommendation and find a good viewer on the net and install. Recomendations.

It is not a bug. it is a program hidden deep in the bowls of window's 10. Where can I find the program that is currently opening my JPG's. When I checked my program defaults it said the program/app "photos" is being used as my computers photo viewer.
Like I said above I can open jpg's from explorer (double click), and in the upper left corner of the viewer it says "photos" I just need to point my program to the default MS Windows viewer Photos. Which I cannot seem to locate. It is pretty simple what
I am attempting to do but for the life of me MS makes simple tasks more difficult with every upgrade.
