Windows 10: Which account to use for RDP when using Microsoft account on Windows 10?

Hi,


this Microsoft account usage is pulling my nerves all the time. With new computer I gave MS a chance and surended upon constant nagging "use MS account here" and "use MS account there" and "sign into MS account"...ok, MS, I WILL!


Now I am using my MS account for logging into my new Windows 10 PC, but, oh geez:

1. Why must I use a PIN instead of password? Pin can be 4 numbers, what security is this? My password has gozzilion characters, what's the point of 4-digit pin?
2. Is my password still valid if I use PIN to login?
3. Why I cannot use my Office 365 user as MS account? Why I must use frigging PRIVATE mail like gmail for creating MS account? Why I cannot have my regular hybrid-use freelancer mail address for MS account? And why is MS asking me if this is PRIVATe or BUSINESS account...I am freelancer, and most of people nowadays bring their business laptops to home and work for business during private hours, so there's no clear border of what's private and business anymore. MS, ger real!
4. And most of all, for RDP REMOTE DESKTOP...I did not manage to login using ANY of username/mail/pin/password combination.****???

I hate, absolutelly HATe when software developers do not know what on Earth to change, they are out of ideas and they begin turning GOOD things around into complicated mess of uselessness. Aghrrrrrrr!

RDP using Windows account tied to Microsoft account

I am having a problem using RDP and can't for the life of me figure it out.

I have my PC running windows 10 and I use a Microsoft account with a pin to login. I have enabled and configured RDP access on the machine but can't login into it using my account. My Microsoft account is bound to my gmail address and that is what I used
to login on my PC.

What i have tried with no luck based on suggestions found around the internet:

UN: <email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

UN: .\<email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

UN: microsoftaccount\<email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

UN: <first 5 letters of my email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

UN: .\<first 5 letters of my email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

UN: microsoftaccount\<first 5 letters of my email address> - PA: My Microsoft account password

Then i created a local account just for test not bound to a Microsoft account and tried that and it logged in on the first attempt.

What should I use to login using my Microsoft account or is there no way that works. And if it is supposed to work why isn't any documentation on how to do it.

 

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

 

Microsoft Account and Authentication during RDP

Hello, trying to RDP to my windows 10 (fall creators update) via RDP but the RDP client always fails with invalid credential.

I have tried the combinations:

• Microsoft account primary alias and Microsoft account password
• Local username associated with my Microsoft account and Microsoft account password

Neither is accepted for sign in. I have Mobile sign in enabled on my account so I technically never entered my password here.
