    Having read this tutorial on power states ...
    I have 1909 with updates delayed.
    Am aware that updates will eventually happen.
    Really like S3 sleep, very useful to me and have no interest in nor want the S0 modern standby version (battery killer).
    Ages ago read that S3 ability was removed from certain builds ....
    Can anyone confirm or deny which builds allow S3 ?

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried F3, F3b, F3i, F4d, F4g, and now F4, sleep does not work 100% on any but better on some than others.

    sleep problem with standby when both s1 and s3 shows under powercfg

    My supermicro X9SRA board only have the option diable, s1, s3 under acpi.... but if i select s3 then under windows powercfg /a it would give standby (s1 s3)

    and that seems to be the problem that i can't properly wake the computer after it goes to sleep and power down everything. a touch of the keyboard would wake up the fan but you just have a blank screen and an unresponsive computer...

    conversely, i notice a few other computers i have where s3 sleep works properly, under powercfg /a, you only have standby (s3)

    is there a way to tell windows to specifically only use s3 when both s1 and s3 standby are listed under powercfg /a ?

    S3 sleep trouble with Gigabyte GA-790FX-UD5P AM3

    So, I've had quite a good deal of trouble trying to get S3 sleep working on my board. When I first got the board, S3 sleep didn't work at all. Switching to F4d bios allowed sleep, but if I waited any longer than 1hr to wake the computer, the data stored in mem would somehow be corrupted and the computer would fail to wake and go into an endless reboot cycle.

    I've done quite a bit of research, and it seems that Gigabyte fails HARD at getting sleep to work properly on their boards. This goes for AMD sockets as well as 775/1366 boards.

    They blame it on Vista settings, they blame it on user hardware, it seems they blame it on everything but their boards. I've had S3 working properly with a Biostar and a Foxconn on this same exact system, and both of those are supposedly "cheapo" compared to Giga.

    The reason I KNOW it is Gigabyte's fault, is that sleep behavior changes depending on BIOS. On some it is totally broken, and on others it appears to work fine as long as I don't wait to long to wake it up. On the BIOS'es where it is able to sleep, if I put the settings anywhere but stock, it refuses to sleep properly. I've NEVER had a board that would not S3 at a mild OC, besides this stupid Gigabyte, and from my searches it seems like I am not even close to being the only one.



    Does anyone have any suggestions before I shit-can this turd and switch to the M4A79-T?
