  1. Why are videos automatically starting muted in Microsoft Photos app?

The issue:When using Microsoft Photos to watch videos, they start auto muted. You can mouse click the audio icon, then click the mute/unmute icon, but that gets old quickly if your opening every video from the File Manager as every time you close the Photos app, or open a video from File Manager, the video WILL be muted! My solution is 2 part:1 To quickly unmute - Tap M2 To avoid having to repeatedly tap M for each video - DO NOT CLOSE the Photos app. Try to instead use the 'Slideshow' function by using the arrows on the far left and far right of the middle area of screen they appear after a

  2. WINDOWS 10 MICROSOFT PHOTO APP

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

    • Go to settings and system.
    • Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

    • Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
    • Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    • Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.

    • get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

    Videos on Photos app

I like to go through my photos and videos all at once using the photo app. I was able to just click to the next video just fine before and without changing any settings it all of a sudden started muting each video. So, when I click to the next video or from a photo back to video it mutes it and I have to unmute it each time. How can I fix this?

    Videos with no sound

    Hi Lee,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue.

    1. Were you able to play Videos through Photo app previously?
    2. Have you verified if any other MP4 videos are playing through photos app?
    3. Which version of Windows and build version is installed on your device?
Refer the article ‘Which version of Windows operating system
    am I running
    ’ to provide the details.

However, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

    Method 1

    1. Right click on Volume icon on the taskbar.
    2. Click on Open Volume Mixer.
    3. The Volume Mixer will load a list of all the running multimedia applications.
    4. Check if the volume status is Mute/Unmute under photos app.
    5. If it’s in mute status, unmute it.
    6. If not, try the method 2.
