Windows 10: Why can I no longer mount my game ISO images from off my network for computers that don't...

Since the latest major Windows 10 update, why can I no longer mount my game ISO images from off my network NAS for computers that don't have CD rom drives?

Mount ISO image that persists or mount at start-up

Using Windows 10 Home.

I want to have an ISO disk image mounted permanently and assigned to drive letter U - rather like mapping a network drive.

I know how to mount an ISO image in file explorer and assign it a drive letter in diskmgmt. But, when I re-start the computer, the mount does not persist and I have to do the mount/drive-letter assignment all over again.

I know there are 3rd party utilities which can do this, but how do I do it in Windows 10?

Is there a way of making the mount and drive-letter persist?

Or perhaps a command that can be executed at start-up to mount and assign a drive letter?

Or can it be done by kidding the "Map network drive" to map it somehow?

Error when mounting ISO files

I understand when you are trying to delete/rename/move the ISO files after mounting it you get an error message. It could be possible that the ISO file is mounted and that is the reason you are unable to modify it.



I suggest you to eject the ISO file and then try to modify it. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + E, to open
   File Explorer.
   
2. Click on This PC on the left pane, you will find the mounted ISO file.
   
3. Right click on the ISO file and click on Eject. Try modifying the ISO file now.
