  1. why can't I run hyper-v inside virtualbox

    Hi,

recently I created a windows 10 pro virtual machine inside a windows 10 home OS using virtual box. I found that windows 10 pro has built in hypervisor called hyper-v. I have nested visualization turned on in virtual box and my processor also support it. I made a windows 8 virtual machine in it but it gives an error saying that one of the hyper-v components are not running. So I went to windows features and tried to turn on hyper-v hypervisor. However it is greyed and the description says I can't turn on because my processor doesn't have SLAT capabilities. I have it of course.

Here is what I got running core info in the virtual machine.

And here is what I got running coreinfo in the host.

    Please help me resolve this.

    Many thanks!

    :)

No, it doesn't work, just tried it with Hyper-V enabled and it won't run a VM. Same problem as before. If I disable Hyper-V and reboot the VM works fine. I have the latest Oracle VB.

  4. why can't I run hyper-v inside virtualbox

Why can't Hyper-V play nicely with VirtualBox?

So, I use VM's mostly for curiosity at the moment, I have Windows 10 Pro, and so I decided to check and compare Hyper-V to VirtualBox, and VirtualBox seems vastly superior to Hyper-V (Hyper-V having no sound drivers is a big issue). So I decided to stick
with VirtualBox, however, it freezes immediately after boot with a green turtle symbol on the bottom status bar. The reason for this (according to the VirtualBox forums) is that when Windows utilizes virtualization, it does something that makes it unable to
share with VirtualBox. The current solution? Disable any Windows Features that utilize virtualization, and that fixes the issue. However I don't like that because some of the Windows Defender features utilize virtualization and they shouldn't have to be turned
off just so I can VirtualBox. Is this issue known (I'm assuming it is)? Is it being worked on? Do any of the insider builds have this fixed?
