why does the system suddenly ask to "save" print files instead of printing them?

My HP pavilion g7 has suddenly decided to start sending everything to a save file instead of directly to a print file. Even if I say to save it, it still does not print. I have tried to check settings and don't see this as an option.

Why Will It Only Print To File?

Suddenly my computer will not print to the printer. It sets off to do so, everything seems fine, but then while I'm waiting for the print to start up pops the screen asking me what name to save the pdf file to?

It is wanting to print to pdf all the time.

I've been through the screens and everywhere I find a 'print to file' I make sure it is not checked.

    What more can I do?

    Print command asks "save"

This morning I clicked "print" in Word, Notepad or elseware the print window opens, I click print and instead of print it ,"Save Print Output As" opens with "Save as Type: Open XPS Document (*.oxps)" option only, & an error "Could not start print job" appears.

With my printer connected in a laptop it prints immediately like it was on my PC.

How can I correct the PC as it was before?

A scan showed no virus e.t.c.

What is this "Save to Print File" issue?

Since the latest update, when I need to print it wants me to "Save to Print File". I checked and my printer is set as default and there is NOT a check in the Print to File box. Any suggestions.
