Windows 10: Why doesn't Windows Media Player Version 12 play DVDs automatically when inserted into the...

Media Player is my default app. In Win 7 and Vista, when Inserting a DVD into the drive, the DVD starts playing automatically in Media Player, but not in Win 10. What's the reason for this? And can it be corrected?

Windows Media PLAYER

DVD's play on my Windows Media Player ... the same player that plays music and has the juke box. When I put a DVD into the tray, it automatically opens up the PLAYER, not the Media Center. (I am on Windows 7 and have Media Player 12, though it has always
opened up for DVD's on earlier versions of Media Player, also.) The dvd's (and also if inserting a music CD) definitely load the Windows Media PLAYER program and play there very well. Thank you.

• What exactly happens when you try to play DVDs on Windows Media Player?
• Are the DVDs being detected on your computer?

I suggest you to run Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter find and fix problems with playing DVDs in Windows Media Player.

Steps:

• Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
  and select it.
• Click on View all in the left pane.
• Click onWindows Media Player DVD and follow the onscreen instructions.
