Windows 10: Why has browser opened occasionally after startup?

This has happened 3 times in the last 10 days: I turn the computer on, and get the usual screen showing my desktop. Then, about 10 minutes later (without having done anything on the computer), the browser I use (Firefox) is open to my homepage. I have performed Malware Bytes scan and McAfee virus scans and nothing was found. I have not set Firefox to start upon startup (I don't think you could even do that), and if it happened to be set to that, why doesn't it do that every time? What causes this behavior?

I'm not sure how to do that. Could you list the steps for a noob?

 

OneNote 2016 opening on startup

Hi,

In order to turn off or disable OneNote 2016 at startup, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the Taskbar, and select Task Manager.
• On the bottom right of the Task Manager window, click the drop-down arrow to open
  More details.
• Click the Startup tab. This tab shows the programs that are enabled on Startup.
• Right-click OneNote 2016, and click Disable.
• Click File, then Exit.
• You may then restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

edge browser won't open

Please provide more information before we proceed

• Do you facing this issue only with few sites or with all websites?
• Are you getting any error message when try to open?
• Are you able to use other browsers on your system?
• Is the Microsoft Edge Windows opens?

Step 1:

If Microsoft Edge browser opens, I would suggest you try clearing cache and cookies.

Follow the steps below:

• 
  Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
  
• 
  Select Settings and click on
  Choose what to clear.
  
• 
  Check the boxes Browsing history,
  Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and
  files and click on Clear.
  

Step 2: If the browser didn’t opens try running
System File Checker.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.
