  1. Why has my laptop been updating for over 36 hours?

I have a Dell Latitude E5430 Windows 10 and it’s been updating ever since 10pm on the 20th, it’s now 1:13pm on the 22nd. I’ve read that Windows 10 updates can take 24 hours, but it’s been over 36 hours. One restart in particular has been at 91% since I went to bed last night. I’m absolutely not a computer guy, I have no idea what I’m doing with things bigger than a malware scan, but this is really concerning me that I haven’t been able to use my laptop in nearly 2 days. The screen currently says “Working on updates 91% / Don’t turn off your PC. This will take a while. / Your PC will restart several times.” and has the dotted loading circle above the words. The typical restart screen. Is something wrong with my laptop, is there anything I can do to speed this process up?

Why has my laptop been updating for over 36 hours?

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Why has my laptop been updating for over 36 hours? :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
