Windows 10: Why I can't open web search results in Windows 10 search in my default web browser?

I have Windows 10 Pro version 20H2.My default web browser is Mozilla Firefox.Among search results, I can find Search web results option. After I click on it, Windows offers me to use Microsoft Edge or to search for different app on Microsoft store.Why Windows doesn't allow me to use my default web browser Mozilla Firefox?As you can see, I have installed Mozilla Firefox but I can't use it to open web search results!Why I'm not allowed to use my own web browser?Plese, let me know how to solve this problem. I want to use my own web browser for all online activities.Thank you.

How to change the browser used for web results in Windows 10 Search

When I search for things in Windows 10, the (web) results open up in Microsoft Edge with the Bing search engine.

I want the results to open in my default browser, Firefox Quantum (61.0.1 (64-bit)), in my default search engine, DuckDuckGo.

What I have tried:

• extensions: either not compatible with Firefox Quantum or just didn't work
  
• changing Firefox config value browser.search.redirectWindowsSearch to true
  
• "uninstalling" Edge: because Microsoft don't give you a nice of way of doing this (at least with the latest feature update (version 1803)), I deleted the folder from the app directory. Now web search results are basically broken: it still tries to open Edge and it obviously fails.
  

Surely there is Registry edit that can save me from this.

 

Search Everywhere only opens files, not web results


This is referring to the blue "Search Everywhere" panel that slides out from the right, not Cortana or the Start Menu search box.

When I type into it, it'll list my local files on the top, then web results underneath. Clicking any listed local file will open that file, but clicking on any web results doesn't do anything.

Example: If I type in "ASUS", it'll show any file on my PC with ASUS in the name. Under those results, it then lists results from the web like the ASUS website and other ASUS related results like Google or Bing does. Any local document in the list will open from the search results, but no web links will open (nothing happens when clicked on).

Not sure why this is happening. Anyone else experiencing the same thing or know what could be causing this?

 

Cortana is not opening Web search results in browser.

I had installed "EdgeDeflector" on my windows 10 pc, a software that forces Cortana to use google chrome/firefox instead of Microsoft edge. Now, after uninstalling the "EdgeDeflector" cortana is not opening web search
results in any browser. Even though edge is now set as my default browser, It just shows Bing results in that small slide out panel of cortana. How do I make Cortana use edge browser again? (without "EdgeDeflector". I don't want it on my computer)
