Windows 10: WHY is Chrome such a pig these days?

i haven't tried chrome because i don't use it but i can say that firefox is still firefox *Smile no differences for me in W10 TP. i was using 8.1 pro until W10. Try firefox and google how to improve performance. there are some tweaks which are really optimizes firefox.

 

Chrome is currently my number 1 browser. I'm using it in both Win 8 and Win 10 and only have 1 addon. I have had no issues with it as pointed out in this thread. I am having some display issues with IE in Windows 10, some pages are so large that they don't display in the browser correctly. I don't see this problem in Win 8.1.

 

IMO, Chrome has been a resource pig for almost a year now, I used to use it as my main browser when IE was having loads of problems and slowly but surely every time they updated chrome it got to be more and more of a resource hog.

I don't need a web browser that logs into my GMail ... or any site for that matter, I don't store passwords via my browser, too risky.

These days I use Waterfox 64bit which has blazing speed, it's like using Firefox on steroids and it accepts Firefox plugins.

 

It works best if you're using Chrome OS! *Roflmao2

 

It is better to use flash than HTML5 for videos, for example I use Disable Youtube™ HTML5 Player.

 

Nah Firefox is the resource hog, it uses more ram than ANY browser it also lags when loading sites and is buggy too so Chrome is cool. And yeah Waterfox seems to be faster than firefox.

last firefox was ugly. the new ver is fast compared to old. no more mem hog than any of the others if you look carefully at all the issues, multitabs, under use. I have not seen leaks in the lastest [for which they are famous...infamous]
chrome's hogginess is in video and it is variable depending on what vis is in your system. IE still is faster and way more efficient on vid especially in 8.1 and Win10. And Google=Government, which has been proven over and over ad nauseum. you don't mind government being online with you all the time, by all means use it.

Chrome is still better, IE has terrible extension support and some websites don't support IE.

 

So, what did you do?? Write/Code your own browser?? *Wink

Topic: I use Chrome and it's running rather well and just as fast if not faster than FF. YMMV.......

 

Actually I don't find chrome any more a resource hog than IE11. Remember IE is interwoven with windows and shares it's resources with the system so not everything will show up, where as Chrome is a stand alone system in itself, so all it's resources show up. I think that with the processors and amount of RAM(at the prices) resources shouldn't be an issue. My processor goes to 3.2Ghz and I have 8GB of RAM so Chrome is not a resources hog for me at least.

 

Yeah those who say "Chrome is a resource hog" probably don't have the best pc specs, anyone who has 4GB RAM+ wouldn't be saying that chrome uses a lot of RAM.
