    Does my i7 2600K support Windows 10 64bit?

    Hey,

    Reading the Windows 10 specifications it says the following -

    "To install a 64-bit OS on a 64-bit PC, your processor needs to support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW and LAHF/SAHF."

    I checked my CPU, an Intel i7 2600K, on AIDA 64 Extreme and while CMPXCHG16b and LAHF/SAHF are supported, AIDA says -

    "PREFETCHWT1 Instruction Not Supported".

    I currently have Windows 7 64bit installed.

    Can I install 64bit Windows 10 or not?

    Which CPU Would You Buy?

    I would suggest the i7 970, but since it wasn't on your list I voted for the i7 2600K. They seem to be a real nice overclocking and energy efficient cpu.
