Windows 10: Why is SVCHOST.EXE trying to access my protected folders?

Hello.I recently formatted my HP Laptop 14-dk1xxx and installed Windows Home Single Language with version 20H2. 3 days later I saw that I got these Windows Defender alerts:* Translating it would be: PROTECTED ACCESS FOLDER Your Administrator has blocked this action App or processes blocked: svchost.exeIMAGE 1: Projected folder: %userprofile%\Videos IMAGE 2: Protected folder: \Device\Hardisk\Volume1 I have seen other people had this problem happen to them. I applied some methods they recommended: I ran Windows Defender offline scan and it did not find any threats for me. I installed, configured

Ransomware Protection - How to tell which apps tried to access folder

I recently found out that W10 now has ransomware protection that I am attempting to try, but with not much success.
I have enabled RP and added a couple of folders I want to protect, which a couple of apps I use write to these two folders.

When I enabled RP, the apps were no longer able to write to the folders. When I tried adding the .exe to the allowed program list, it still wouldn't allow the apps to write to the folders. The recently blocked apps list doesn't show anything

Is there a way to see the apps that tried to access the protected file, so I can add the correct file to the allow list?

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.
