Windows 10: why is windows defender antivirus update taking more time to update than necessary?

The windows defender antivirus icon showed a message indicating that action is needed.

Then, I tried to update it the first time, though, the update process didn't complete.

But when I restart my PC, it shows no action is needed.

The following day, after booting the system I used it for a while then it shows a message indicating that action is needed.

Afterwards, all my attempts to update the windows defender antivirus has been in vain.

Because it cuts severally times during the update process.

Please, I want a lasting solution to this issue as soon as possible.

Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
