  1. Why might my new PC build be restarting every 30 seconds or so?

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I'm building my first Win10 system and I’m encountering a number of problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Motherboard: MSI Z390-A PRO LGA1151 (Intel 8th and 9th Gen) M.2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 DDR4 HDMI DP CFX Dual Gigabit LAN ATX

    CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K

    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16

Power Supply: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified

    GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2070, 8GB GDDR6

SSD: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD

HDD: Seagate BarraCuda 2TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM 256MB Cache

    OS: Win10 Home (x64)

Build is complete. Motherboard is flashed to newest version. Win10 is installed.

Between 10 and 30 seconds of logging in to Windows, computer spontaneously shuts down and restarts. No BSOD. No mobo diagnostic lights. No error logs. System appears stable in BIOS and safe mode.

Things I’ve tried that still result in crashes:

    • Ran system with GPU disconnected via VGA cable from mobo
    • Disconnected HDD, leaving SSD as only drive, installed Win10 on SSD
    • Disconnected SSD, leaving HDD as only drive, installed Win10 on HDD
    • Second attempt at fresh install of Windows on both drives
    • Reseated the RAM, including trying one stick at a time and trying slots 1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4

    :)

  2. PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

Why might my new PC build be restarting every 30 seconds or so?

    PC Build Steps

1.1 - Ideally put optical in SATA 0, and SSD in SATA 1, this will cause the optical drive to be the default 1st boot option. You can change it manually if not, but I like it this way
    2.infinity - yes, that's fine. if it's above 70 +/- 5 degrees, then it may just need a repaste/remount
