Why the big updates - features 1703 and 1709?

I understand the need for updates to Windows Ten. But why are they so massive?

I recently installed the Creator's Update 1703. That was something like 5GB. It's only been a few weeks and now I have to update another Creator Update 1709, which is like 4.4GB.

I'm not debating or arguing the NEED for updates. I just want to know why they are so big, especially when there are not that many changes to its aesthetic, and the way one uses its features.

Many users complain about feature 1709, and that they need to roll back to 1703. So why update it at all. Is it really necessary?

    :)

  3. Update Constantly Failing!

I tried exactly what you said and restarted my computer, as usual it attempted to install the updates and when I got to my desktop a message appears saying "Failed to install updates" and as expected I look at the history and it says

    "2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4038782

    Failed to install "

    and now it also says

" Feature update to Windows 10, version 1703

    Failed to install "

I'm unsure why this is happening but this has become a really big inconvenience

Why the big updates - features 1703 and 1709?

It's an upgrade not an update (i.e. full OS)... no need to upgrade - it can be deferred.
The nature of Win 10, however, is a perpetual upgrade/update eco-system - so, it's the nature of the beast - it should not download on systems that are known to have issues though.
