Windows 10: Why will Minecraft not update to Version 1.16.100?

I have three computers. One for me and one for each of my two sons.

We like to play Minecraft all together via LAN.

Recently, my computer updated to version 1.16.100 and the other two computer did not. They are stuck at version 1.16.40.

Now when we try and connect to play together, we get this message:

"Could not connect: Outdated Server"

I am assuming that all the versions need to be the same, but why are the two other computers not updating?

This was purchased from the Windows Store.

When I go into the store, there are no updates available.

When I select to "Install on my devices", nothing happens?

All computers meet the "minimum system requirements" as listed

How can I update all my computers to make sure that we can all still play together.

Minecraft 1.9 Pre-Release 1

It is time to stop waiting and start playing. A pre-release of Minecraft 1.9 is now available. We are very excited to enter the final stage before the new version is released.

First the answer to the most asked question: We are currently planning to release the final version of Minecraft 1.9 next week, on Thursday, 25th of February 2016.

And now to the usual release notes. Once we release the final Minecraft 1.9 update, we will also provide a complete list of changes between Minecraft 1.8 and Minecraft 1.9.

Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, we can’t fix it!

To get snapshots (or, in this case, the pre-release), open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog).

Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Minecraft beta update rolling out, unifying versions of game

The Better Together update will be the first step in unifying versions of Minecraft for console, mobile and Windows 10. That means players on those platforms will be able to join each other in-game, create, cooperate or compete together on massive servers, and access whatever swish skins and Marketplace adventure maps they own on any of their compatible devices. If you own “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition,” you’ll receive the new version for free. The beta on Windows 10 is now rolling out, with Xbox One beta access to follow.

Minecraft: Education Edition will launch November 1

As the 2016 school year gets underway, we are excited to announce the full version of Minecraft: Education Edition will be available to purchase in the Windows Store on November 1.

Since June 9, more than 35,000 students and educators around the world have utilized the early access program and provided feedback to help us fine-tune the experience across a diverse set of learning environments.

Minecraft: Education Edition is built based on feedback from the educator community and the features and capabilities they have told us are important to enhancing the learning experience. While we debuted several of these features with early access in June, we’re excited to roll out even more key capabilities on November 1, including:

Classroom Mode: A companion app for Minecraft: Education Edition that enables educators to manage world settings, communicate with students, give items and teleport students in the Minecraft world. It displays a map view of the Minecraft world, a list of all the students in the world, a set of world management settings and a chat window. There is even a Minecraft clock to show time of day in the world. Classroom Mode offers educators the ability to interact with students and manage settings from a central user interface.

New Minecraft game features: We will continue to update Minecraft: Education Edition to include new game features from other editions of Minecraft. All the latest updates to Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta will be included, such as leads and horses, additional player skins, pistons and the remainder of Redstone functionality and an updated user interface.

The complete version of Minecraft: Education Edition will be available for purchase on November 1 for $5 per user, per year, or through a district-wide licensing model.
