Wi-Fi adapter needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled after going into sleep mode-

    Good evening-

I have a strange issue that is happening every time my laptop goes to sleep. When I wake it up, the adapter is off and I am not able to turn it on manually. I end up having to uninstall the Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter from the device manager. I have the box unchecked to turn off to save power. The wi-fi works fine as long as I leave the laptop open and prevent it from going to sleep. I have verified the driver is up to date. Running Windows 10 home 64-bit. It is an HP notebook. Any help would be appreciated! For now I will just leave it open!

    :)

    USB Wi-Fi Adapter Disabling

Is it on Windows 8's compatibility list (check MS website- forgot link)?

I had an issue with one Wi-fi adapter and it wasn't listed as compatible- All was well when I swapped it out with one on the compatibility list

  3. Microsoft wi fi direct virtual adapter

    Hi K_V 5150,

go to Device Manager> network adapters, uninstall your Wi-Fi adapter, then click on Action> Detect hardware changes. Windows should automatically reinstall both the Wi-Fi adapter and the WIDI virtual adapter

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Wi-Fi adapter.

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

    • On the search bar type “Device Manager”

    • On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it

    • Right on the “Wireless adapter” option and click “Uninstall’

    • Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.
