Windows 10: wia service refuses to start since windowsupdates March 2019

Since the latest windowsupdate, I cannot scan from WINDOWS (HP DJ2630)

HPSmart manages to scan but the GUI is so primitive that it is next to useless as it only scans full screen)


The problem is WIA service.

Why is WIA refusing to start after the latest windows updates?

I keep getting a repeated error 1607 and WIA refuses to start after the latest Windowsupdate "improvements"

I have had to restore system once already - it helped for a while


I have tried modifying the registry DWORD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\stisvc start to 4 but it resets itself to 2 in no time at all


how do I fix this?

WIA Driver error Mesage

My scanner has stopped working and I'm getting an error message about WIA driver. It was fine a couple of days ago.

I have followed the following instructions, but still not working; same error message.

"Check if the service is running by following the steps below:

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Services and select the top most search result.
• Locate Windows Image Acquisition services and check if the
  status shows running in the window.
• If the status space is empty, it means the service is not running. I suggest you to start the service by highlighting the service and clicking on the
  Start service icon located on the menu bar at the top of the window.
• Close the window and check if the changes are effective"

 

Office 2019

Only supported on Win10. Sorry, 8.1 users, only 4 years old, gotta go.
