  1. Wide swings in free space on SSD

I have a Gigabyte Aero 15 X9 with the stock Intel 760P 1 TB SSD. CrystalDiskInfo 8.1 is reported that my drive is completely healthy

Each time I use my computer, I generally notice a 1-2 GB swing in the available storage. I presume this has to do with temporary files and what not so I don't really pay much attention to it.

Last night, Computer reported about 340 GB free. Today, I noticed out of the blue that it jumped up 357 GB free. I didn't install/uninstall anything since yesterday. A few days ago it made a similar swing up to 350 GB and then a swing down.
What could be the cause of this?

Microsoft running disk cleanup in the background? System restore points forming and getting deleted? (I currently have 16.02 GB of system restore points, allowing for a max of 46.98)

    :)

SSD storage keeps filling up on its own

    Hi Ash,

There's a possibility that the files are just hidden. As an initial troubleshooting, we suggest following the steps below on how to display hidden files that's eating space of your SSD:

    • On the Search bar, type folder, and then select
Show hidden files and folders from the search results.
    • Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives,
      and then select OK.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

  3. SSD space

Thank you all for your suggestions. What I ended up doing was to insert my USB drive with the Fall Creator's update and reinstall over windows keeping all of my settings. After that my SSD which is my C drive had
the total amount of space used down from 107GB of 250 to 51.7GB. Plus the December update that was causing all my problems and not installing, was installed.
