Windows 10: widows virus protection

Hi Using windows 10 pc , trying to run ADMS-2900 CABLE AND SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING FOR YAESU FT-2900 cod.700006. When i start install it runs and installs . when i enter the software to program radios, antivirus says it is a threat and limits use so cant save work in software, it appears that windows deems it an app and wants me to add it to a safe list. As a work around , if i turn off virus & threat , i can save and work in the software , but this is unsafe as software uses internet to gain updates and other info. If i install another anti virus it works fine , but i want to use defender/essentials . any advice or assistance appreciated

virus and threat protection

Virus and threat protection has stopped and will not restart, Windows 10 ver 1709, antimalware client ver 4.12.16299.15 . SuperAntiSpyware installed.

I have tried most of the suggestions from the support pages, all have been ineffective. Any suggestions
