  1. WiFi disappeared completely from laptop

    Hi,

I have an MSI Alpha 15 A3DDK, with Windows 10.

I haven't had any problems, then all of a sudden I started getting BSOD stop code 0x0000006 once or twice a day. I could not find the source of the problem.

Then, yesterday evening, I left my computer to grab dinner and when I came back, the WiFi was gone. The little pop up window next to the clock shows only 'Airplane mode'. It all happened automatically.

When I open the Network & Internet tab in Settings, WiFi isn't listed as an option on the left side of the screen. I have tried Network Restore, but that changed nothing.

In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, there is nothing about WiFi. It's as if this computer has never been equipped with WiFi somehow.

Plugging in the cable works just fine and always has.

Aditionally, I have tried to run all 3 options from System Recovery Fresh Start, Reset with and without file deletion. All of them fail at a certain moment in the progress and make the computer restart, undoing any possible progress that had been made.

I do not understand what is going on or how to fix it. I can't imagine that any virus infection would tamper with the internet connection, that makes no sense. Also, neither Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool nor AVG Premium could find anything even resembling a threat.

    Can anyone please help me?

    :)

  2. Wifi completely disabled

    Hi Ben,

It seems that your wireless card may have been disabled or could be uninstalled. To help sort out this issue, I suggest that you restart your laptop first. Once the laptop is back on, check if your WiFi is reconnected. If not, check your laptop's Device
Manager and see if the wireless card is detected. Follow these steps:

    • Right-click the Windows key and click Device Manager.
    • Expand Network adapters and look for your WiFi adapter.
    • If it's there, right-click it and click Properties.
    • Check the Device status.

If the device status shows that the device is working properly, then check if the Airplane mode on your laptop is turned on. Just press the
Windows key + A to open Action Center. If it's on, then turn it off and see if WiFi is working.

Please update this thread with the result so I can assist you further.

    Regards.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond WiFi disappeared completely from laptop :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
