Windows 10: Wifi problems

So, I’ve been having problems with my internet for the past few months and I’d like to get some advice here before dropping a lot of cash on anything. I play World of Warcraft on my laptop with windows 10 and I keep getting disconnected. Whenever I run a troubleshoot on my internet, I still have full bars but the troubleshoot tells me that I either have a gateway problem or “problems with wireless adapter or access point” I live on the second floor of the house and there’s no Ethernet ports in my room. These problems didn’t happen for the first 4 months I was here but after cleaning up my laptop, reset my router and bought a 5g adapter to connect to the routers 5g, I’m still having problems. I also ran a diagnostic of my computer and the adapter was marked as “Good”. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to investigate my adapter and router?

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10


I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

 

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.
