Thanks, okay. I'll try reinstalling Windows again if it helps, tomorrow, if I find an external hard drive. I have one but I used it with my old iMac and my current laptop tried to clean all my previous photos from the hard drive off. I do t know why it does that but can't risk having years of photos being wiped away just because this computer can't handle it. I'm also considering taking this to the repairs but that will take 6 weeks and it's December so 8 weeks at minimum so it's not very alluring option.

  3. I just updated to the new windows 10 update where it adjusts wifi settings. Instead of saying connected or disconnected under the wifi name now it says "no internet, secured" it only says no internet at school on the schools wifi (works fine at home) The school wifi needs a username and password... Anyone know whats wrong?

It means if you want to use the school internet you will have to see if they will give you the code which could be username and password as their Wi-Fi is locked.
If they wont give it to you then there is nothing you can do except perhaps get a dongle and use it that way.
My one at home is secured to stop others from using it and all passwords are entered on all our systems so they can connect.

My wifi actually says that too. No internet connection, secured. Yellow question mark thing on the wifi sign.

  6. Normally a yellow triangle which means you have limited connection.
If you have signed in and you are still getting it check your router to make sure all lights are green.
It could be to do with who you get your internet from they could be having trouble with their line.
Also check to make sure your drivers are up to date

Okay, I've now updated drivers, none of the wifi related drivers needed updating though. now it says that one or more web protocols are missing? It also says its unable to fix the problem.

Well I got a lot of good ideas I hadn't realised myself so I'm closer to the answer *Biggrin
I reinstalled Windows again and it seems I have Internet for now. I also found out my computer keeps shutting down the Internet on itself so I went to connection, opened the connection info, properties, then on the upper bar it says eg. Realtek wireless lan among other stuff, press the button below that which unfortunately I have no clue what it means in English..something like...define..it opens a new window and at the furthers right there's power management or something like that..it had a feature on " let computers hut down this utility save energy" or something like that, I click it off and I'm now waiting to see results. Net is still super slow but at least I got it back Wifi+ win10= death of me :p

Ive been resetting the router every 2 hours for it to work. I guess I need to buy a new router too. But I figured I shouldn't actually need it. The modem thing has a wireless option, which is bad, but I have some internet with it on my phone.

To find the BIOS settings Control Panel/NetworkSharing/ChangeAdapterSettings/Click on wifi connection/Select Properties and then follow the instructions in the link.

However, my issue with limited/slow internet reoccurred.

Probably not your router. My ISP sent me a new modem to no avail. You may want to visit the site of your computer manufacturer. They may have some tips.
