Will any change to registry cause sfc /scannow to show corrupt?

Hello I am trying to find out if any changes to the registry will cause the sfc scan tool to say there are corrupt files. In my case I have changed the caps lock button to not function via the tenforums tutorial and also added registry editor to windows 10 Home edition so I could shut onedrive down which are all the changes I have made. I keep showing corrupt files that couldnt be fixed when I run sfc /scannow so I ran the DISM tool and it wouldn't finish. I am including the log from my DISM attempt #2.dism.logdism.log

    :)

  3. STARTUP ISSUES WINDOWS 10

Cured! I entered the following sfc/scannow at the command prompt, and the scan fixed whatever error in the registry was causing the issue.

    Many thanks!

Will any change to registry cause sfc /scannow to show corrupt?

The registry is a database that stores settings for virtually everything on a Windows PC from application settings, user passwords, device driver info, Windows settings, software licenses and a lot more. Some registry settings are meant to act like on-off, or enable-disable switches. That would include the caps lock button. Ordinarily, enabling or disabling that function should not corrupt the registry. Neither should enabling or disabling OneDrive.

One reason for a corrupt registry might be the use of a registry cleaner that was too aggressive and removed needed registry values. Or if this was a recent upgrade (from a previous version of Windows to Windows 10 or from an earlier version of 10 to the Anniversary Update) there might have been a glitch in the upgrade process that damaged the registry. Malware could corrupt the registry as could a recent addition of new software including Microsoft's own monthly patches.

Here are a couple of tutorials that might help you repair the registry. Personally, if you're not experiencing any issues and everything is working as you expect, I wouldn't worry about the corrupt files.

    Refresh Windows 10

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Hopefully others will jump in and see if there's anything critical showing in the dism log.

Thanks for the reply marsmimar and thank you for the explanation, i didnt know much at all about registry. As for registry cleaners the only thing I use that touches the registry is revo uninstallers scan after an uninstall(that im aware of that is) but nothing is wrong short of my boot up time being about 45 seconds instead of 10 to 15 seconds I really dont notice any thing else at all so I think I will take your advice and leave things be but thank you for the links I am going to check em out regardless. Thanks again.
