Windows 10: Win 10 1903 Update Failing

Windows update has failed to install 1903 update over 20 times now. Always same pattern, reboot, tries to install, gets to 7% jumps to 77% and then just reboots and logs back into Windows without having updated. When I look at update history some, but not all entries have different error codes: 0xc1900209, 0x80240034 and 0x80070643.

I have to date tried to resolve this as follows:

- Ran Win Update Troubleshooter

- Ran Win Update Assistant

- Ran Win 10 Media Creation Tool

- Ran sfc /scannow and chkdisk C: /f

- Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

- Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

- Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

None of this worked. The last Microsoft Windows Advisor eventually told me I could now move on to doing a fresh Windows installation...which is hardly a solution to a failed Windows Update, especially since it'll take me a day to get my work environment back to what it was.

I'm hoping someone can actually assist with identifying and making sense of log files which must surely exist to troubleshoot the reasons for aborted updates.

Win 10 1809 kb4497934 update fails with 0x80070157

Hello,

I tried all suggestions up to upgrading to 1903 from

step 1 in fixes. I also tried step 2. None of the fixes

solved the problem. I am not willing to upgrade to

1903 - not during the first month of availability! Do

you take me for a fool? Windows Update continues

to be the most unreliable component of Win 10.

 

Win 10 1803 to 1903 update

My Desktop computer running Win 10 updated from version 1803 to 1903 a while back, but my Desktop running Win 10 version 1803

I'm assuming the update 1803 to 1903 has now resumed after the earlier problems caused a suspension?

Any thoughts, suggestions?

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
